Convert HEIC to JPG — Free, Private, In Your Browser

You sent iPhone photos to someone on Windows or Android and they cannot open them. That is HEIC, and JPG is the fix — no app to install, and the photos never leave your device. Runs entirely in your browser — your image never leaves your device.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload your HEIC

Drag your file into the box or click to pick. Nothing is sent to a server.

  2. 2

    We re-encode it as JPG

Your browser decodes the HEIC photo and re-encodes it as JPG — all on your device. The decoder loads once on your first conversion.

  3. 3

    Download instantly

Get your converted JPG file. Ready to use anywhere.

Why convert HEIC to JPG?

Since iOS 11 every iPhone photo is saved as HEIC by default. It is genuinely clever — roughly half the size of JPG at the same quality — but Apple adopted it well ahead of everyone else. Windows needs a paid codec from the Microsoft Store, most Android phones cannot preview it, and almost no upload form accepts it. Converting to JPG turns an iPhone photo into a file that opens on anything made in the last three decades. This is comfortably the most common conversion people need, and it is why the tool decodes HEIC right in your browser rather than asking you to upload family photos to a stranger's server.

When this conversion is the right call

  • Sharing iPhone photos with Windows or Android users who see only a blank file
  • Uploading a photo to a job, exam, visa or government form that rejects HEIC
  • Printing iPhone photos at a lab or print shop
  • Attaching photos to an email where you cannot control what the recipient uses

FAQ

Do I need to install anything?

No. Your browser loads a small HEIC decoder the first time you use the tool, then handles everything locally. No app, no Microsoft Store codec, no upload.

Will the photo lose quality?

Barely. We convert at a high-quality preset (0.92) — the difference is invisible at normal viewing size. The JPG will be roughly twice the size of the HEIC, which is simply the price of a format everything can read.

Can I convert several photos at once?

This page handles one at a time so you can check each result. For a large batch, run them through and download as you go — nothing is uploaded, so there is no queue or waiting.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.

What is a HEIC file and why convert it?

HEIC is the high-efficiency format iPhones use for photos. It saves space, but many Windows PCs, Android phones and websites can't open it. Converting to JPG gives you a photo that opens everywhere. The first conversion loads a small decoder in your browser; after that it's fast — and nothing is ever uploaded.

What is the maximum file size?

There's no hard limit — it depends on your device's memory. Most photos under 50 MB convert in under a second.

What happens to transparency in PNG / WEBP?

JPG does not support transparency. Transparent pixels are filled with white in the converted JPG. If you need transparency, use the JPG-to-PNG or WEBP-to-PNG converters instead.

What output quality do you use?

We use a high-quality preset (0.92) that balances visual fidelity and file size. PNG output is always lossless.
