Convert JPG to PNG — Free, Private, In Your Browser
This is the one conversion people do for quality rather than size. Turning a JPG into a PNG gives you a lossless copy that will not degrade further, no matter how many times you edit and re-save it. Runs entirely in your browser — your image never leaves your device.

Why convert JPG to PNG?
Every time a JPG is opened, edited and saved again it is re-compressed, and a little more detail is thrown away. Do that five or six times and you start seeing blocky patches around edges — generation loss. Converting to PNG stops that clock: PNG is lossless, so re-saving it a hundred times changes nothing. It is also the format you need if you are about to cut out a background, because PNG supports transparency and JPG does not. Be ready for the file to get bigger, often several times bigger — that is the cost of storing every pixel exactly.
When this conversion is the right call
- Before editing a photo repeatedly, so re-saving does not slowly degrade it
- Preparing an image for background removal, which needs transparency support
- Placing an image into a design tool or presentation that expects PNG
- Archiving a version you will not need to re-compress again
FAQ
Will converting to PNG restore lost quality?
No, and this is worth being clear about. Detail already thrown away by JPG compression is gone for good. PNG simply prevents any further loss from this point on.
Why did my file get bigger?
That is expected. PNG stores every pixel exactly instead of approximating, so a photo often grows three to ten times. You are trading disk space for quality that will not degrade.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.
What is the maximum file size?
There's no hard limit — it depends on your device's memory. Most photos under 50 MB convert in under a second.
What output quality do you use?
We use a high-quality preset (0.92) that balances visual fidelity and file size. PNG output is always lossless.
