FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I compress an image to exactly 100 KB or 50 KB?
Upload your image, pick a target (20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB) or type a custom size in KB, then click Compress. The tool automatically tests quality levels — and reduces the dimensions if needed — to land at or just under your target size.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens in your browser. Your image never leaves your device — there is no upload and nothing is stored. This makes it safe for IDs, documents and personal photos.
Why do I need an image of an exact size?
Many websites and government / exam / job application forms require photos under a specific size, such as 50 KB or 100 KB. This tool gets you under that limit without manual trial and error.
What if my target size is too small for the image?
If a size is impossible without destroying the image, the tool produces the smallest acceptable version it can and tells you it could not reach the exact target. Try a slightly larger target or a smaller starting image.
Which output format should I choose?
JPG gives the smallest files and is accepted almost everywhere, so it is the default. WEBP can be a little smaller at the same quality but is not accepted by every form. If a form asks for JPG/JPEG, choose JPG.
